I have posts about doll collecting, art and music as well as other topics. Anything that does not fit into a standard category goes into a general all-purpose category called blogging.
My book reviews are not meant to be typical reviews. They are are idiosyncratic. I am a Blogger with hearing loss who prefers audio books to printed material. Which is why most of my book reviews are actually reviews of the audiobooks. But when I really like a book I buy both the audio book and the eBook so I can cross reference. I frequently write book reviews on Library Thing and on Good Reads. I often read other people’s book reviews to give myself a fresh perspective.
Please feel free to comment on any article or review. All comments will be approved quickly if they are not harmful. Many will be replied if I have something to add. I update my posts when new information becomes available. Certain posts may have deleted over time. You may contact me about deleted posts and I can send them to you via email.
About Me:
I was born in San Francisco in 1965. I am the daughter of Carmelo Zito the Italian American Anti-fascist born in 1889 in Oppido Mamertina a province near Reggio Calabria, Italy. He published an Italian language Newspaper in San Francisco called “Il Corriere del Popolo” which means the message of the people. I currently live in Holts Summit Missouri near Jefferson City where I am restoring six acres of land to its naturally state to help the Environment.
I started blogging with Live Journal circa 2001-2002. Some of my posts are backdated to before Macy Makes Magic existed. I also had another Free WordPress Blog which I migrated to Macy Makes Magic in 2016 when I decided to change to a paid WordPress Plan plan and created this blog. The name “Macy Makes Magic” has nothing to do with Macy’s the department store or the Disney Brand “Magic Kingdom”. Macy is a fictional character I created and the name is purely whimsical. It was difficult to choose a Blog Name and URL that did not pigeon hole me a particular focus. My philosophy is writing should be reader friendly without being too simplistic which would be pandering. I always try to make everything I write as clear as possible.
Due to Google’s overly aggressive AI I noticed that no more traffic is coming to my blog expect for bots. When one wants a web search Google turns it into an AI query which results in an explanation which may be correct but may also be incorrect. Fewer people are doing web searches and people are not finding my blog posts based on my topics. I would rather update older posts then create new ones. I am in the process of updating all of my older blog posts. I’m making them more modern by removing hyperlinks. That was the old style of blogging that nobody does anymore. I also am removing links for the website known as Archive Today because it seems not to be functioning any longer.
