About My Doll Collection
I’ve been collecting dolls since 1987. I have been members of various Doll Clubs when I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have been to Doll Conventions all over the United States. I occasionally post doll photos on my Instagram account which is called “Avantguard Dolls” and you can follow it here. Although I sometimes collect Avantguard Dolls made by Integrity Dolls, I’m discouraged with their fragility. The name of my Instagram Account merely implies that I like to collect dolls that are different and I like to add my own personal touches to make them avant-garde.
I started the Facebook group called Sailor Moon Dolls. I have other moderators running it, but I still actively participate in the moderation process. I started Sailor Moon Dolls on Facebook because my interest in Anime and the show Sailor Moon. I felt that Sailor Moon dolls were under appreciated. Now that Sailor Moon Dolls are vintage and very expensive they are treasured by collectors. In the 90s and early 2000s I participated in Anime groups and frequently traveled to Japan Town in San Francisco and San Jose for Anime related events.

I don’t feel that doll collecting runs contrary to Environmentalism. Although dolls are made of plastic they are only a very small percentage of giant amount of plastic waste that we consume daily and discard. I once collected a porcelain doll, but found it highly unsatisfactory and I sold it. I consider myself part of the wave of New Environmentalists. Rather than trying to stop Climate Change (which is impossible) we try to make the best of the situation, make our lives happy and peaceful, and be as ecologically minded as we possibly can due to our current circumstances. We also refrain from shaming others regarding their plastic use, travel or driving habits. I am often actively buying and selling dolls on eBay.
